Earned Income Tax Credit
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) supports eligible workers. Below are the maximum credits and income cutoffs for tax year 2026, generally claimed on returns filed in 2027.
| Qualifying children | Maximum credit | Income cutoff Single / Head of household | Income cutoff Married filing jointly |
|---|---|---|---|
| No qualifying children | $664 | $19,540 | $26,820 |
| 1 qualifying child | $4,427 | $51,593 | $58,863 |
| 2 qualifying children | $7,316 | $58,629 | $65,899 |
| 3 or more qualifying children | $8,231 | $62,974 | $70,244 |
These are maximum credits, not guaranteed refunds. The income cutoffs show where the credit is fully phased out; both earned income and adjusted gross income must be below the applicable cutoff. Your credit depends on income, filing status, qualifying children, and other eligibility requirements. Special rules apply to separated spouses and other eligible filing statuses. We can review your eligibility as part of preparing your return.
Investment income: You cannot claim the 2026 EITC if your investment income exceeds $12,200.
Refund advance option
Ask us about SBTPG’s optional tax refund advance loan.
Fast Cash Advance is a loan, not your tax refund. It is available at participating locations; not everyone qualifies or receives the maximum amount. Loan principal and interest are deducted from your refund, reducing the amount you receive. Other optional product fees may apply and are disclosed when you apply. You may e-file without applying for a loan.
Example: A $2,000 loan repaid in 30 days costs $59.16 in interest, for a total repayment of $2,059.16. *Pre-IRS acknowledgment advances begin January 2; in-season advances begin when IRS filing opens. Availability through Jasmin Business Group depends on program participation. Offers and terms may change.
